The Sims Game Help Please?

I'm playing the sims on gamecube, same as on a playstation. I'm in the "get a life" mode & I'm at Mimi's. I've been there for ages! I've been promoted & done what's in the goals list, all that was left was for me to move out. But sims are rejecting me, I looked in the goals list & it says to upgrade abode... again. I've added expensive things but I can't move out! Help!
