What are the top ten Gothic Metal bands based on actual fact?

I do not see any Rock Band members being college professors writing about their knowledge of the world and a history theses for the basses of their music. If such a group sang about beyond hypothesis, educated facts, do you really think they would make any money? What you want are opinions and opinions are not fact.
